Liz Crix becomes second Green on Stockport Council

6 May 2022

The Green Party now has a group on Stockport Council. In the 2022 local elections Liz Crix polled 1916 votes in Reddish South ward, 378 more than her Labour rival. She therefore joins Gary Lawson, who was elected in 2021. Liz told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that she attributed success in the ward to 'year round hard work'.

Liz continued "We like to keep in touch with the residents, both through our newsletter and also we do a lot of door-knocking, I have also been doing ward work for the last few years - glamorous stuff like litter picking - but also sorting out residents' issues."

As a group it will be easier for Gary and Liz to table motions for debate. Liz's success has been echoed in neighbouring parties, with gains in Trafford and Manchester. Results for all Green candidates in Stockport can be found here
