I first came to Manchester in 1979 to study Speech Therapy. I met my husband, Mike there and we have brought our 3 children up in Cheadle Hulme where we have lived for 36 years. I have worked in the NHS for over 20 years in the preschool Speech Therapy service before retiring several years ago.
From my background, I am most passionate about providing good secure services for early years which would give parents & children the most positive start in life. I have seen changes in service provision come and go and then return over the years, we need a party who will stay focussed & deliver on their promises without default. As Mike & I now look after our 3 year old granddaughter, this has highlighted the changes a party needs to make both locally, nationally & globally to provide all children with a better future. How can we face up to the questions this generation will have about how we looked after the planet? I believe the Green party is best placed to provide the answers, putting the environment first and combatting climate change.
I am a long standing supporter of Baby Milk Action which serves to stop misleading marketing of baby formula. I am also a volunteer tour guide at Victoria Baths in Manchester which I thoroughly enjoy. I attend a weekly theatre jazz dance class for mature ladies which is great fun & exercises the body & memory. I enjoy theatre especially musicals and I like to support the plethora of local amateur groups. I also joined my local WI during COVID and I am encouraging the group to be more green at the meetings.
