Champions! Stockport Green Party send their congratulations to everyone associated with Stockport County after the team secured their return to the Football League this afternoon. After a long season and much hard work, County end the season 6 points clear of second place.
Stockport Green Party co-Secretary and long-time County fan, Peter Foster commented: “I enjoyed watching a great win at Edgeley Park this afternoon against Halifax to seal promotion to League Two after eleven years in non-league football. Much credit to all at the club and the fantastic supporters who have been behind the team all the way.”
Green Party councillors Liz Crix and Gary Lawson added: ‘It’s great news for our town to see County back on the football map. Congratulations to the team, let’s hope for more success next season!’
