Green Party dismay at Council decision on Market

22 November 2017

Yesterday Stockport's Labour Council announced their preferred partner for the Produce Hall of Stockport Market ( http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/stockport-market-hall-mackie-mayor-13933899 ). Stockport Green Party (SGP) is dismayed that the Council has chosen to ignore the strong bid put forward by Seven Miles Out.

SGP spokesperson Steve Torley said: "Seven Miles Out has been a pioneer of many welcome developments in the Old Town, such as Foodie Friday and the Fringe Festival, appreciated by many of our members. It is important that Stockport supports the efforts of organisations like this, which helps to promote independent businesses in Stockport."

SGP hopes that the Council will reconsider its decision in light of the high level of support, including a 4,000 strong petition, shown for the vision put forward by Seven Miles Out ( https://stockportproducehall.co.uk/ )
