Deyika Nzeribe, Green Party Mayoral Candidate, has died

2 January 2017

We were shocked to learn of the tragic passing of Deyika Nzeribe, the Green Party Candidate for Greater Manchester Mayor.

He had been a member of the Green Party for a number of years, representing the Party in the Hulme ward and being Chair of Manchester Green Party for a while.

Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the Green Party, said: "I was absolutely devastated to hear this tragic and shocking news. Like many in the party I felt privileged to know him, and was thrilled to be asked to be there at the recent launch of his mayoral campaign. He was someone who was so full of life and anyone who met him could not fail to be touched by his gentle genuineness."

Gordon Combe, Stockport Green Party campaigner also present at the launch of Deyika’s mayoral campaign, added: "Deyika was a kind and thoughtful man. He cared deeply for his community and fought passionately to make it a better place. His energy and intelligence inspired many people. He will be greatly missed."

Our thoughts are with Deyika’s family and friends.
