I have lived in Stockport for over 15 years mainly local to Woodsmoor and I have developed a great affection for both my local area and Stockport as a whole. I have particularly been struck by the strong sense of community whether that be in Woodsmoor with the interest in protecting the Mirlees Fields and train station services, or throughout the town in celebrating the market and it’s musical culture
What led me to join the Green Party was the feeling that recent governments and the major parties have displayed a complete lack of credibility and the realisation that nothing will ever change by just picking the best of a bad lot. The Green Party's ethics came across as strong and admirable.
If elected as a councillor I would make efforts to build on the improvements to the old town which have seen a resurgence in the market area through the efforts of those involved with Foodie Friday and Seven Miles Out and I would also strive to create more opportunities for our children, especially teenagers, in local areas.
