Reddish South 2023

Liz Crix

Hello, I'm Liz Crix. I have lived in the Heaton Norris part of Reddish South ward for the last 18 years and was honoured to have been elected as Stockport's second Green Party councillor last May. Due to ward boundary changes, standing for re-election has come all too soon!

I've enjoyed my first year as a councillor for Reddish South ward: I've learnt a lot; I've built many relationships; I have some achievements under my belt, and I want to continue. The more experience I gain, the more effective I can be for the people of my ward, Stockport as a whole and the Green Party.

I am most proud of the part I played in the Council decision to set up a cross party working group to deal with all aspects of biodiversity loss. I influenced the Council leadership to put forward a motion to Council, which I seconded. If re-elected, I will be part of this working group, and will do my best to push for more nature-rich areas, including reduced grass mowing regimes to encourage wildlife.

I am also very proud to have contributed toward the pressure put on decision makers which resulted in saving St Mary's Primary School in Heaton Norris, a school that values eco principles.

The Greens punch above their weight on Stockport council. Since Gary and I were elected, Green issues have a much higher profile. With an increased Green presence, we will be able to do so much more for the residents of Reddish and for Stockport as a whole.
