Reddish South 2023 candidate 3

Gary Lawson

Gary Lawson

I was elected for the Reddish South Ward as Stockport Council's first Green councillor two years ago. Liz joined me as our second councillor a year ago and together we are definitely changing things. I am therefore seeking re-election.

As a member of the Climate Action Now group, there was at first a lot of data to gather, but now we are starting to deliver projects which will reduce carbon and which can be scaled up as we move forward.

Speeding traffic is one of the main issues that residents raise with me and I am glad that I took part in the working party which agreed that 20 mph should become the default speed limit on residential roads. I am also glad that I was able to become a member of both the working party on inequalities and the Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee.

I live in the Ward and together with my partner we care for a young autistic man who lives with us. I am an active member of St. Elisabeth's Church, Reddish, and in my spare time I enjoy music and walking in the Peak District and further afield.
