I am passionate about the environment, protecting wildlife, the need to tackle climate change and social justice. For many years, I’ve been a supporter of various environmental charities including Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace; more I recently decided to join the Green Party as it offered me the opportunity to take action on the all-important local grassroots level. It is also very closely aligned with my own priorities as the party puts both the environment and people at the heart of their policies.
Originally from the Midlands, I moved up to Stockport nearly 30 years ago to work for Stockport Council in leisure and tourism. I had the pleasure of serving the local community in a wide range of projects including Heritage Open Days and Stockport in Bloom. I then went on to help local people in a very different way by training as an acupuncturist. I now work in a clinic in Hazel Grove and another in Bramhall as well as teaching at an acupuncture college in Leamington Spa.
I’m married and have a daughter. And in my spare time, I love to sing in a local choir and Zumba dance; I also enjoy baking cakes and growing veg on a shared allotment in Torkington Allotments site.
